Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Outpatient Staff Nurse to join our existing teams within General Outpatients. We are a dedicated and supportive team that provides treatment and care to a wide variety of patients.

Within our departments we run appointments for a wide range of specialties including Dermatology, Gynaecology, Rheumatology, Urology, Cardiology and many more. Also our Assessment and Rehabilitation Unit at GRH provides outpatient clinics for syncope, TIA's, falls and Parkinson's disease. Our departments are busy, changeable working environments which offer scope for personal development.

The successful candidate[s] will be expected to work a pattern of shifts across the week and required to work rotationally cross county between Gloucester and Cheltenham General OPD's. (Hospital transport bus available).

Main duties of the job

Work as part of a designated clinical team delivering care which is focused on the direct needs of the individual. Have the ability to work without direct supervision, at times delivering care independently in line with the patients defined plan of care and NMC Code of Conduct. Contribute towards developing a culture of learning and innovation, developing high quality learning environments. Assist in the implementation of appropriate action to meet the specific physical, emotional and psychological, social, cultural and spiritual needs of individuals and carers. Plan and manage competing elements of the job role within a busy, changeable working environment, including flexible working patterns to support cross county working.

Work in an effective and organised manner demonstrating excellent time management and organisational skills to effectively deliver person-centred care for an allocated group of individuals. Clinical activities require highly developed skills. This often involves working in certain restricted positions (e.g. bending and kneeling) where posture cannot be easily changed. Continuous concentration is necessary to ensure the high level of clinical care required of the post-holder. This may be difficult to maintain in the presence of frequent interruptions from clinical colleagues, requiring advice.
