Job summary

Ward 2A at the Great North Children's Hospital is seeking to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic full-time Housekeeper to join our friendly and supportive team.

Ward 2A is a busy, fast-paced paediatric unit providing care for children and young people aged 0-18 years. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role within a multi-disciplinary team where your contribution is highly valued and directly supports the delivery of high-quality patient care.

We are looking for a reliable, motivated, and organised individual to join our team who has excellent communication and teamwork skills. The ideal candidate should have the ability to work in a busy and dynamic environment with a caring and compassionate approach when working around children and their families

Previous housekeeping or healthcare experience is desirable but not essential (training will be provided).

Main duties of the job

As a Housekeeper, you will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, families, and staff. Your work will support clinical teams by ensuring the ward runs efficiently and meets high standards of cleanliness and organisation.

  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection prevention across the ward environment
  • Supporting stock management, including ordering and replenishing supplies
  • Preparing bed spaces and ensuring patient areas are welcoming and well maintained
  • Assisting with meal and refreshment providing adequate nutritional support/meals to patients and their families
  • Working collaboratively with nursing, medical, and support staff to ensure smooth day-to-day ward operations
