The North East and North Cumbria Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN) is hosted by The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Agile Research Delivery Team (ARDT) as a Data Manager. The primary purpose of this role is to support the collection and recording of high quality data relating to those participating in health and care research in Wider Care Settings.

This role will require regular travel across the geographical footprint of the North East and North Cumbria RRDN, however the post holder will be based at either Regent Point, Gosforth or James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.

Main duties of the job

Our Agile Research Delivery Team is a group of dedicated staff based in our Regional Research Delivery Networks (RRDNs) across England. They are skilled, multi-disciplinary staff who can work flexibly across a variety of different locations to support research setup and delivery in health and social care.

Our regional teams can support studies at various stages as needed, including:

o Engagement of siteso supporting the set-up of researcho taking consent from participantso recruitment to studieso data management and follow-up

One of our key aims is to ensure that everyone across the country has the opportunity to take part in research. Delivering health and social care research in places where people already access a wide variety of services helps us to do that.

Through our flexible and multi-disciplinary Agile Research Delivery Team, we can help to deliver research in a wide range of settings. These include:

The role of the Data Manager is to support delivery and research support staff by:

  • providing routine data management and administrative support for study delivery
  • ensuring timely input of data into the Local Portfolio Management System (LPMS) so that accurate oversight of the portfolio can be maintained
  • develop and maintain reports to allow for performance oversight
  • contribute to the finance process to ensure funding is processed for research activity

This role will be responsible for the collection and quality of data relating to those participating in health and care research. The post holder will support members of the Agile Research Delivery Team in the collection, transfer and entry of data relating to research activities undertaken. The post holder will act as a point of contact for all data related queries liaising with a variety of stakeholders throughout the life cycle of a research study. They will assist the research delivery team in all aspects of participant record maintenance and will be experienced in the use of Local Project Management Systems (LPMS). The post holder will process data associated with out of hospital research activity and Service Support Costs (SSCs) and work with other RRDN departments to ensure cost effective use of NHS resources. They will provide administrative and data link/support to the RRDN Study Support Service for primary and community care research portfolio. They will upload, monitor and maintain accurate patient recruitment records in the local LPMS database. The role will be an integral part of the Agile Research Delivery Team which sits within the RRDN core team. The post holder will be accountable to the Agile Research Delivery Team Manager.

Key working relationships for this post include the wider Agile Research Delivery Team, researchers and research delivery teams within a wide range of health and care settings.
