Job summary
Band 7 Occupational Therapist responsible for delivering innovative and high quality Occupational Therapy assessment, intervention and support, to children and their families across the Newcastle, North East and Cumbria region referred to the paediatric oncology service.
Supervision of the Band 6 Occupational Therapist within the team with responsibility for service delivery and developing links with other specialist children's cancer services; multi-professional working and working groups across the UK and overseas.
Participation in quality improvement projects, audit and implementation of best practice guidance with the children's Occupational Therapy service ensuring demonstrating caring and compassionate care and leadership.

Main duties of the job
- Carry out complex Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to children to children's and their families referred to and under the care of the children's Oncology team
- offering supervision and support to junior members of staff and students
- Participation in audit and service improvement projects
- Attendance of staff meetings and Band 7 meetings
- Maintaining professional registration and evidencing continuing professional development
- Completing risk assessments both at home and within school to support a child's occupational participation
- Undertaking moving and handling assessments
- Carrying out postural assessments and making recommendations accordingly
