Job summary

The Newcastle Eye Centre at the Royal Victoria Infirmary is looking to appoint a 15 hour Waiting Lists Senior Co-ordinator. This post is to work along the existing Waiting List Senior Co-ordinator.

We are looking for candidates with a Business Management Qualification (NVQ Level or equivalent) or equivalent experience, good standard of English, excellent communication skills, previous supervisory experience and significant NHS experience in waiting list management.

Applicants must be well organised and be able to prioritise work. Applicants will be expected to work flexibly to support the department and should be able to work under pressure to ensure deadlines and targets are met.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be expected to:

  • Understand and apply the Patient Access Policy to their everyday activity, ensuring that patients are managed fairly and contributing to the ability of the Trust to maintain waiting time targets
  • Ensure systems and procedures used by the team are operating effectively and within the context of the Trust's policies and priorities
  • Accountable for ensuring patients at risk of breaching are managed with supervision from Outpatient/Admin Service Lead
  • Consult with the Heads of Department, Clinical Director, Matron, Operational Service Manager and Outpatient/Admin Service Lead to plan and organise theatre sessions maximising the utilisation of available theatre capacity in line with waiting list targets and objectives
  • Team Leader to the Waiting List Office Team based at Newcastle Eye Centre
  • Support Outpatient/Admin Service Lead with weekly PTL, long waiters and validation of both IPWL and OPWL including attendance at Trust/Departmental meetings
