Interventional Fellow in Complex PCI & TAVI (Post CCT equivalent)

Job summary

We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join ourwell integratedteam.

The appointee willparticipateextensively under the supervision of all theTAVIconsultant cardiologists.They will gain extensive first operator experience.There will be training in analysis and interpretation of cardiac CT for patients being assessed for TAVI.A regularcomponent of the fellowship will be dedicated training in TAVI using the Edwards Sapien,MedtronicEvolutTAVI valves and Abbott NavitorValves.

The appointee will be expected toparticipate in the pre- and post-procedural care of patients they have performed procedures upon as well as regularly attend the TAVI MDTs.

The post is tocommenceMarch2026for 12 months.This is a fixed salary post of £73,992 per annumwith no on-call.

Main duties of the job

This post is an opportunity to gain experience in TAVI in a high-volume UK centre. This post would be suitable for a candidate who is competent in PCI and would like to further enhance their skills in TAVI prior to application for substantive consultant interventional posts.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Clinical:

The successful appointee will work as part of the TAVI team. Typical duties per week will include 6/7 TAVI lab sessions, 1 TAVI clinic and time allocated for audit and research. There will be responsibility for the management of patients undergoing TAVI procedures.

Administrative:

Responsibility for recording data from lab patients in local databases, writing discharge summaries and communicating with General Practitioners.

Other:

Attendance and participation at the weekly TAVI MDT meeting, other educational meetings and the relevant quality assurance programme.

Emergency and On-call Responsibilities:

There is no out-of-hours commitment attached to this post. It is not expected that the appointee will take part in the General Cardiology specialty registrar on-call rota, but it may be possible to accommodate this if the appointee expressly wishes to do so and has suitable experience. This would involve covering CCU including direct admissions to the PPCI service and other cardiac emergencies. This is a 1:10 rota and is resident.

Education and Training:

A named educational supervisor will discuss the needs of the appointee at the start of the job and review them regularly. The appointee will also receive positive support from the Trustwith regard totaking exams oradditionalqualifications andwill have access to a minimum of 10 days of study leave per year, plusadditionaldays for Trust and (if applicable) MTI induction.

There are opportunities for Audit, and to develop an interest in the research activities of the department. The appointee will be involved as a sub-investigator for on-going research studies in clinical electrophysiology in the department.

Accountability:

The appointee will be accountable in their clinical duties to the consultants whose patients they are managing in the first instance, to the Clinical Director of cardiothoracic services and ultimately to the Medical Director of the trust.
