Main duties of the job

In this role, you will act as the pharmacy lead for breast cancer, providing specialist clinical pharmacy input across outpatient, day case and inpatient settings. You will be responsible for supporting all aspects of systemic anti cancer therapy (SACT), including verification, regimen management, toxicity assessment and ensuring medicines are used safely, appropriately and effectively. You will work closely with consultants, specialist nurses and wider MDT members, attending consultant led ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings and providing expert advice to support complex treatment planning.

You will contribute to oncology clinical trials activity, supporting first in human through to late phase studies, and play a key role in maintaining and developing the regional chemotherapy electronic prescribing system (ChemoCare), for which the Trust is the hub site. You will also lead and participate in service development, quality improvement, audit and clinical governance within oncology pharmacy. Education, training and clinical supervision of pharmacy colleagues and other healthcare professionals will form an important part of the role. As part of the 7 day cancer clinical pharmacy service, you will provide specialist cover for cancer inpatient wards and support the Chemotherapy Day Unit to ensure safe and timely delivery of treatment.
