An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual to join the Gastroenterology Research Team in a clinical patient facing post. The successful candidate should be enthusiastic, motivated, flexible, and able to work both independently and as part of a small team.
The post holder will support the development and implementation of clinical research trials by providing support to the team to ensure the smooth delivery of a portfolio of studies. The studies we deliver range from early and late phase clinical trials of investigational medicinal products, investigational devices, observational studies and Registries. Our studies are mainly centred around patients with inflammatory bowel disease and also include other conditions covered by Gastroenterology such as Chron's.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will take lead on a varied portfolio of studies ensuring they are conducted in line with research protocols and Good Clinical Practice. This will include screening, recruitment and follow up of research participants. The research nurse will be responsible for carrying out all research activities, such as clinical measurements, venepuncture, administering the study intervention, sample processing, data management and safety reporting.

We are a regional Gastroenterology centre, recognised as having an excellent reputation for delivering clinical research programmes. We are based at the RVI but also cover the Freeman Hospital. We see patients throughout the Trust in areas such as outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, endoscopy units, day case infusion units and the clinical research facility, providing a great opportunity for collaborative working across the NUTH site in each department.
Applications are welcomed from a registered adult nurse who has post registration experience working within Gastroenterology, in specialty areas and/or the clinical research delivery landscape. We are looking to appoint an individual who has excellent communication and organisational skills, with effective time management and good IT skills. Someone with the ability to multi-task, has knowledge of data collection systems and has meticulous attention to detail and can work proactively and cohesively within this small friendly team. The successful candidate will be provided with a full induction programme and ongoing support and will have the opportunity to facilitate the delivery of research studies within the Gastroenterology speciality.
