An excellent opportunity has arisen for a 4.5 month secondment to join the Children and Young Person's Oncology Neuro-Oncology team.
We are a well-established and supportive team who provide a high standard of clinical care for Oncology patients. The Neuro Oncology service compromises of a dedicated MDT that offers a regional service to patients across the North East.
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual, previous oncology knowledge and experience would be beneficial, however, support and education will be in place for the successful candidate.
The role will be to support service delivery to neuro-oncology tumour patients and coordinating care whilst developing skills.
You will gain a valuable insight into supporting patients and their families at diagnosis and through their cancer pathway, on and post treatment and when disease recurs or advances. This is an emotionally challenging role which will require a resilient individual.

Main duties of the job
You will be providing key worker support for patients with a Neuro-Oncology diagnosis with the catchment area of the PTC.
You will need to have excellent clinical skills and standards within the specialty and have some knowledge of Neuro-Oncology. As well as, having a passion for being able to make a difference for patients who are going through a life changing, and in some cases life-limiting diagnosis and treatment. You would be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision to support delivery of care.
Excellent communication skills will be essential to provide high quality information to the patient in a way in which they can understand. You should also be able to use your initiative and have a consistent high standard of professionalism whilst maintaining staff and patient confidentiality.
