Job summary

Our Domiciliary Physiotherapy is looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to join our friendly, dynamic team.

Our Physiotherapy Team works with adults living in the Newcastle upon Tyne area. We provide assessment and intervention within the patient's own home, aiming to maximise independence and quality of life. We receive referrals from primary and secondary care, social services and self referrals. Our patient group is varied, with a broad range of long term conditions.

We work collaboratively with our patients to set realistic goals and rehabilitation plans, and to support them to manage their long term conditions.

We offer opportunities for training and development, with the opportunity to take part in service development projects.

Employment is dependent on an Enhanced DBS, and the successful applicant will require a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.

Please note we are currently based at the Kenton Centre but will be moving to Regent Point in Gosforth in the next few months.

Main duties of the job

  • Waiting list management for a designated area of the city.
  • To ensure effective communication and liaison with relevant medical professional, voluntary and private sectors to ensure a comprehensive and holistic approach to patient care, in order to maintain people in their own home environment.
  • To work alongside the team lead to ensure the strategic and operational management of the team, ensuring implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Offer support to junior members of staff with complex case management.
  • Carry out supervision and appraisals.
  • Provide cover for the team lead during their absence.

Essential

  • Degree or Equivalent Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • State Registered with Health Professions Council
  • Evidence of CPD and relevant post-graduate courses
  • Current valid driving license for the UK

Desirable

  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • Masters level certificate/diploma/degree in relevant subject areas e.g. neurology, dementia care, rehabilitation, leadership
  • Involvement with the relevant CSP Clinical Special Interest Group e.g. AGILE

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Post-grad NHS experience covering a broad base of specialities including band 6 experience within Older People's Medicine, or rehabilitation.
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience of teaching and delivering presentations.
  • Highly specialist knowledge of medical conditions relevant to the speciality and their impact on patient's functional abilities.
  • Highly specialist knowledge of the physiotherapy process and its application with the client group in the speciality

  • Knowledge of current NHS initiatives e.g. National Service Frameworks, Improving Working Lives
  • Previous experience at Band 7 grade
