Teaching Fellow in Critical Care ST3-5 equivalent

The closing date is 16 November 2025

Job summary

We are delighted to offer the opportunity for a dynamic, engaging and committed Teaching Fellow to join our team in Critical Care Medicine. This role will combine clinical duties in critical care with a significant role in the delivery of the teaching, training and support of trainee Advanced Critical Care Practitioners (ACCPs) in addition to supporting the ongoing education of newly qualified ACCPs, critical care residents and wider members of the critical care team.

This teaching fellow post (ST3+) in Critical Care Medicine will be based in Critical Care across Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post is available from November 2025 for up to 24 months.

Main duties of the job

The department has a well-established team of Advanced Critical Care Practitioners who are embedded within the clinical board and contribute to the resident staffing across all four critical care units within the trust. It is expected that a new cohort of trainee ACCPs will commence their Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) Masters programme in December 2025-January 2026. This 2-year teaching fellow post has been created to support and complement the generic ACP training delivered by the HEI to provide a well-rounded training experience which will provide trainee ACCPs with the specific knowledge and skills required to develop into foundation ACCPs, which is the expectation for the third year of the Masters programme.
