Job summary

The Physiotherapy team are looking to recruit a Band 3 Physiotherapy Technical Instructor to work within the inpatient medicine team.

This post will support the team in delivering high quality rehabilitation for patients on the medical wards at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

You will deliver hands-on physiotherapy treatments under the supervision of a qualified therapist and will help patients to optimise their ability to move and be independent in their daily lives.

Main duties of the job

  • Working within a multidisciplinary team to support patients with physical impairments, which affects their movement to regain independence in their daily lives.
  • Supporting patients to practice exercises and functional tasks that will help their ability to move their arms and legs
  • Supporting therapists in therapeutic manual handling tasks to ensure staff and patient safety.
  • Monitoring patient performance and response to treatments and seeking help or advice from qualified therapists as required.
  • Monitoring stock levels and maintaining therapy equipment as well as supporting the physiotherapy team in administrative tasks such as timetabling.
  • Participating in team meetings, learning opportunities and service evaluation and development projects.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and work within trust safety policies.

  • Technical qualification e.g. NVQ Level III Diagnostic and Previous experience of working as a therapy assistant
  • Current driving licence

Desirable

  • Associate Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Therapeutic Care or equivalent technical/work experience
  • An appreciation of the principles of physiotherapy practices and procedures
  • An understanding of manual handling principles

Desirable

  • Experience of working with individuals with a physical disability e g mobility problems

Skills & Abilities

  • Organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
