Job summary

A vacancy has a risen within the nursery for a Catering Assistant Post to join our team.

Free Spirits is a busy 88 place Nursery catering for children 6 months to Pre School.

We are looking for a self motivated enthusiastic person who has catering experience and a relevant food hygiene certificate would be desirable.

Interview date: 4 December 2025
17 hours 30 minutes/week - over 2 days (Monday and Tuesday)

Main duties of the job

To assist in the provision of catering for the children's daily food and beverages, ensuring a nutritious diet and catering for any individual dietary requirements.
Serving/assisting in the distribution of meal boxes and meals
Preparation of simple foods
Assist staff in the serving of meals and clearing away after meal times
Maintaining a high standard of hygiene within the Nursery kitchen is a major function of the role.
Carry out laundry tasks on a daily basis, ensuring the laundry space is well maintained and compliant with Health and Safety/COSHH regulations
Collate meal numbers
Prepare trolleys for meal times
Assist Nursery staff in the serving of food to the children
Liaise with Nursery staff to ensure all dietary requirements are accurate and up to date.
