Job summary

Are you a passionate and experienced children's nurse? We are seeking a highly motivated Band 6 Clinical Educator to join and work with the GNCH Education Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a specific interest in education and relevant transferable paediatric experience. The post holder will require a flexible and adaptable approach and act as a resource and role model within the clinical areas. This will support the delivery of high-quality nursing care by ensuring systems and processes are in place to always ensure the continuity of safe and effective care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to support and maintain an effective learning environment and in response to training needs analysis, deliver and develop training and education programmes. The training will include the delivery of mandatory training sessions, equipment training and practice development. They will be required to monitor staff and support with clinical skills compliance and competency. The successful applicant will work alongside clinical staff where required supporting rotating, returning or new staff to practice, ensuring staff are delivering care at the highest standard.

The post holder will have excellent communication and development skills and a good understanding of the issues linked with current care and education policies. They should be self-motivated, an excellent communicator and have proven and educational skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team as well as autonomously to prioritize and problem solve

It is essential you hold a current Healthcare Professional Registration, have recent experience working in a clinical environment and meet the NMC requirements for Practice Supervisor and Assessor. A teaching / assessing qualification would be desirable.

The successful post holder will be supported to develop their career and will have an opportunity to bring their own ideas to improve/ develop the education packages across GNCH.

  • The primary purpose of this role is to support and deliver on-going education, training for nursing and midwifery teams and may be required to support members of the MDT
  • Identify all opportunities for themselves and others where learning can take place, both formally and informally
  • Support a Training Needs Analysis and maintain registers of training as appropriate, support ward and departmental sisters/charge nurses to ensuremandatory training is compliant with Trust standard
  • Makes an active contribute to the Corporate agenda which should be in the region of 40% of the time
  • Contribute to corporate training and education. Will be asked to support practice development initiatives
  • Develop appropriate competency based clinical skills education and develop relevant competency assessment documents for approval by the appropriate Trust Committee e.g. Clinical Role Development Group or Nursing and Midwifery Practice Development Group.
  • Support the Trust Governance and Patient Safety agenda through active participation in the work of the Nursing and Midwifery Practice Development Group
  • To maintain the delivery and quality of services provided within the care environment including the care delivered, supporting nursing standards and acting as a role model working clinically with staff where needed
