We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated and ambitious individual to join our well integrated team. Newcastle is proud to be a leading clinical and academic centre for ageing and geriatrics. We have a strong focus on innovation, research and driving quality of care for older people. As such, we are looking for a dynamic geriatrician who is passionate about innovation and will work well within a progressive team of 16 Geriatricians. While the Department of Older People's Medicine has a strong emphasis on managing frailty across our wards, clinics, day units and community services, we continue to develop our frailty-based strategy which includes a focus on community and 'front door' frailty, admission avoidance and comprehensive geriatric assessment out of hospital. We would envisage that the post holder will play a key role in shaping new ways of working, by taking a key role in front of house frailty service developments, or by supporting other aspects of departmental sub-specialty service delivery and development.
Main duties of the job
The delivery of clinical services within Older People's Medicine in-patient wards, day unit, out-patient, 'front of house' frailty and community services. Additional sessions to support a sub-speciality interest, and teaching and research opportunities are likely to be available, appropriately job planned.
