This is an exciting new opportunity for an AHP associate practitioner to work within the new specialist Intestinal Failure service at Freeman Hospital.
The postholder will be an integral member of the MDT, working alongside Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Dietetic colleagues to support the delivery of high quality coordinated rehabilitation to this complex patient group.
The postholder will be supported by qualified staff from each profession and will undergo competency based training relative to the clinical speciality.
It would be suitable for an experienced Band 3 keen to develop or an existing Band 4 who is keen to specialise within this patient group.

Main duties of the job
- To accept, plan, organise and therapeutic input to a designated caseload of patients with ongoing care needs.
- To decide priorities for identified patients, balancing other patient related and professional demands, and ensures that these remain fair and equitable across the service.
- To set up and clear equipment needed for treatment sessions.
- To support qualified Therapists with up-to-date management of clinical outcomes database.

Job responsibilities
- To undertake specific skilled support work to aid the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy team in the efficient and effective delivery of functional and Physical Rehabilitation to patients within speciality area within the framework of clinical governance.
- To accept a patient caseload referred by a therapist.
- To treat patients according to set protocols, monitoring patient progress, modifying and progressing patient treatment programmes as required, with referral back to therapists as/when appropriate.
- To carry out basic assessment and treatment of non-complex patients as delegated by the therapist (to include basic chest physiotherapy, non-pharmacological symptom management and enhanced mobility protocols.)
- To provide and deliver individualised exercise programmes for patients.
- To accurately record rehabilitation progress as per Trust documentation / database including therapeutic outcome measures.
- To undertake a clinical caseload within speciality area without supervision for at least 50% of the time within protocols and guidelines set by the designated therapist.
- To coordinate, supervise and teach junior therapy assistants.
