Job summary
We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated ambitious individual to join our well integrated team to support us with our treatment and education services in Paediatric Dentistry. We offer excellent clinical facilities in our dedicated Paediatric Dentistry Department; which consists of bays and surgeries. All surgeries have the facility to undertake inhalational sedation. The post is available from 1st September 2025 and is a 12 month locum position.
You will be an experienced Dental Surgeon with an enthusiasm to communicate your own knowledge and experience to students and patients. You will have been fully registered with the GDC for at least three years and have experience of managing paediatric dental patients. Candidates should have experience of treating patients with inhalation sedation. You will be offered a structured induction and support with the opportunity for further educational development. You will assume responsibility for the planning, co-ordination and delivery of specific components of service and teaching in partnership with clinical and academic colleagues.

Main duties of the job
The primary aim of the 1.0 WTE Locum Specialty Doctor in Paediatric Dentistry post is to join the existing well-integrated team to help support a consultant lead service at tertiary level to the population of the North-East and beyond. This post is configured to support the clinical activities of the specialty. The successful applicant will help to provide a comprehensive diagnostic, treatment and advisory service in Paediatric Dentistry based within the Trust at the Dental Hospital, Freeman Hospital and Great North Children's Hospital. Day case and access to in-patient operating facilities are available. The successful applicant will contribute to provision of the Paediatric Dental Casualty Service and will be involved with both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision.
