The Hands, Burns, and Reconstructive Surgery team are delighted to offer the opportunity to join the team working in this dynamic specialty. As a regional Burns Centre, the highest level of patients are served by us, and therefore is a significant asset to those with a special interest in the field. The caseload also covers both adult and paediatric patients, offering the scope to further develop skills in treating this variety of patients.
The role of a band 6 within the team will advance your knowledge and skills across the breadth of the specialty as part of a rotation, as well as offer the opportunity to share your expertise with band 5 and students, and through in-service training with peers. There is a strong quality improvement focus at Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and all staff are encouraged and supported to deliver on service developments.

Main duties of the job
- Delivering a high standard of physiotherapy care - patient focused and tailored to the individual
- Liaising with MDT and sharing progress and plans of patient care
- Supervising students and support staff
- Teaching across the department, MDT and where required
- Involvement in service evaluation and service development
- Deputising for band 7 when appropriate
- Weekend working as part of a team
- On-call respiratory as part of a roster

- Band 6 posts are designed to consolidate and build on skills and academic knowledge gained during the first few years post-graduation allowing the physiotherapist an opportunity to spend longer in specific areas of work enabling development of more specialist clinical and managerial competencies
