We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Healthcare Scientist (Neurophysiology) at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI).
In this senior role you will be a key member of our Neurophysiology team, responsible for performing a range of routine and highly specialist investigations, such as intracranial/stereo EEG, video-EEG telemetry, home video-EEG telemetry, polysomnography/multiple sleep latency tests (PSG/ MSLT), intra-operative neuromonitoring services (IONM) or continuous EEG (cEEG) on the intensive care unit. You will work closely with our consultant medical staff and the wider physiologist/scientist team, contributing to service delivery and playing an active role in the ongoing development of our clinical services.
We are seeking a flexible and proactive individual who demonstrates strong leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage their own workload and support colleagues in delivering the service. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are essential.
You should be a qualified as a specialised clinical physiologist or healthcare scientist in neurophysiology with substantial postgraduate experience You are expected to have HCPC registration.

Main duties of the job
The Department of Clinical Neurophysiology provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic investigations to both inpatients and outpatients across the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and surrounding hospitals. Patients of all ages are referred to the department from a wide variety of specialties, presenting with a wide range of conditions affecting the central and peripheral nervous system.The post holder will take a senior role in the delivery and development of advanced neurophysiological investigations, such as intracranial/stereo EEG, continuous EEG (cEEG) on the intensive care unit, polysomnography (PSG), home video-EEG telemetry or intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM). Working in collaboration with the clinical physiology service manager they will contribute to the day-to-day organisation of the service, including coordinating appointments, liaising with medical teams and external providers, and managing stock and equipment resources.
Clinical responsibilities include independently planning, performing, and interpreting a range of highly specialist and routine neurophysiological investigations across all patient age groups. These may be carried out in a variety of settings including theatres, wards, intensive care, and external Trusts.
