The post holder will be responsible for the management of the Compliance and Assurance (Health, Safety and InPhase)Team) functions of the Quality and Safety Department (CGARD).
This includes responsibility for continuing development and implementation of the Trust's approach to health, safety management, ensuring that appropriate systems and processes are established as an integral component of effective corporate governance.
The post holder provides lead professional health and safety support to ensure that the Trust complies with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and it's associated statutory instruments.

Main duties of the job
The post holder provides lead professional health and safety support to ensure that the Trust complies with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and it's associatedstatutory instruments.
The post holder will lead or contribute to a range of managerial and professional issues, supporting the Head of Risk, Compliance and Assurance, Deputy Director of Quality & Safety, Director of Quality and Safety and the Executive Chief Nurse.
The post holder will undertake the role of competent person as required by the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations

- Recognised qualification in Health & Safety, Compliance or Risk Management.
- Evidence of CPD

- Chartered or Certified membership of relevant health and safety or risk management body

- Significant experience of managing staff in a related department or team e.g health and safety, risk compliance.
- A detailed understanding of Risk Management, Clinical Governance processes.
- Experience in Staff and/or Patient Safety
- Knowledge of NHS policy and related legislation
- Extensive theoretical and recent practical experience of health, safety and/or risk management within the NHS or large complex multidisciplinary organisation.
