Job summary
The Directorate of Neurosciences in Newcastle has an international reputation as a provider of Neurosciences services. We provide a comprehensive service for a population of around 3 million throughout the North East and Cumbria.
You will provide a comprehensive and efficient administrational service within Neurosciences. You should be able to integrate well with the existing team, be flexible in supporting the functions of the unit and have a genuine desire to contribute to providing a quality service for patients.
We are looking for two reliable and hardworking Clerical Officers to join our Neurology team to provide administrational support to a team of Clinical Administrators and Medical Secretaries, working together to provide an efficient and quality service to a complex patient group. You will work alongside other Clerical Officers, Administrators and Secretaries carrying out duties which will include data entry, communication, clinical and non-clinical typing, proof reading, use of the hospital patient administration system, and co-ordination of patient's records/test results, co-ordination of outpatient clinics amongst other general office duties.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work alongside other Clerical Officers, Administrators and Secretaries, carrying out duties which will include, but are not limited to; data entry, making and receiving telephone calls, clinical and non-clinical typing, use of the hospital patient administration system, co-ordination of patient's records/test results, co-ordination of outpatient clinics, and other general office duties.
The successful candidate will provide administration support to the team ensuring smooth running of the neurology service to support patient care. Data entry is a huge aspect of the role and involves recording patient information meaning accuracy is key. Management of patient tracking lists and accurate recording of RTT pathways will be required, amongst other general office duties including processing referrals and results.
