Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Matron to work across our Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine department, which is within the Women's Services directorate and part of the Trust's Family Health Clinical Board.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic individual who will support the clinical leaders to deliver high clinical and professional standards and lead the department with the quality and safety agenda.The department includes our gynaecology in-patient ward , day unit, Women's Health Unit and termination of pregnancy services as well as our early pregnancy assessment and emergency pathway team. Our reproductive medicine team is based at the Fertility Centre, Centre for Life.

The post holder will be required to meet all of the essential criteria within the job description and person specifications.

The post is full time but flexible hours will be considered if they can be demonstrated to meet the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job

  • The Matron will have 24 hour accountability for the service, they must ensure appropriate systems and processes are in place to ensure safety and effective care at all times
  • The Matron will provide strong and visible leadership to the team
  • The Matron will lead on the delivery of quality indicators
  • The Matron will play an integral role in driving service improvement through the department Quality Improvement work
