We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated qualified Radiographer to join our Plain Film teams in Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals radiology department.

This post will suit a candidate with proven interest in plain film, and a passion for driving the plain film service forward.

The Trust houses the Major Trauma Centre, Great North Children's Hospital, Northern Centre for Cancer Care and the Institute of Transplantation, as well as a world renowned Cardiac Centre. This is an opportunity to develop skills in trauma, paediatrics, specialist orthopaedics as well as a range of outpatient and inpatient imaging.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking an enthusiastic, suitably qualified Radiographer with extensive plain film experience to join our friendly and dedicated teams within the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Radiology departments.

The Radiology directorate performs a wide range of examinations supporting out patients, in patients and emergency department in trauma, paediatrics, theatre, renal, MSK, ENT, oncology and cardiac examinations using state of the art equipment. The trust is a tertiary NHS organization, has a major trauma centre and boasts the great North Children's Hospital.

This post is suited to a Radiographer with extensive plain film experience, leadership skills and high standards. You should have experience in a wide range of examinations, an understanding of the current radiation legislation and experience of training and development of new staff and students. You should also demonstrate current, relevant CDP.

The post holder, working alongside a dedicated team of Band 6 plain film Radiographers, will take responsibility for producing images of a high standard, performing day to day supervision within the plain film environment, providing training to junior staff and students, including apprenticeship and undergraduate levels. The role also requires supervision and maintenance of the quality assurance testing programme within plain film. Excellent organisational, leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills are required, with the ability to work effectively in a team or independently and be able to liaise with staff of any grade within and outside of the Radiology Directorate.

  • oHCPC registered, BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent
  • oPost Graduate qualification in a clinical speciality, or post graduate specialist short courses or relevant specialist experience

Desirable

  • oECDL qualification
  • oIV cannulation competency

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • oWorking knowledge of all relevant professional and NHS policies and procedures
  • oGood organisational interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work effectively in a team or independently as required
