We are looking for Band 5 and 6 Midwives to join our friendly and highly skilled workforce and would like to hear from newly qualified and experienced midwives with a passion for delivering high quality care. For all successful candidates we provide a comprehensive support and training package inclusive of orientations in all clinical areas and a preceptorship programme for newly qualified midwives, aligned to the National Preceptorship Framework standards (NHSE, 2023) that provides a firm foundation in midwifery practice.

Main duties of the job

  • Fulfil the role of midwife as defined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Provide and maintain high standards of midwifery practice adhering to the NMC Code of Practice ensuring relevant registration is maintained
  • Demonstrate and promote excellence in midwifery practice assisting in maintaining and improving the standards of midwifery care within the Trust
  • Plan, implement and evaluate personalised, holistic care throughout the childbirth continuum in community, acute and inpatient settings
  • Work autonomously and within the multi-disciplinary team adhering to NMC, Trust & Directorate Policies and Guidelines to provide specialist expertise to women and birthing people in the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal period, delivering high quality, evidence-based care and acting as an advocate for women and birthing people and protector of the child within the hospital/community setting
  • Effectively prioritise clinical caseload to meet client needs
  • Uphold knowledge and awareness of national and local reports and policies impacting upon the maternity services
  • Enhance clinical skills and knowledge in all aspects of midwifery, owning professional and personal development
  • Be flexible to change and develop practice in light of knowledge gained through reflection, research and audit
