Clinical Research is the scientific study of health and the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness. At Newcastle Hospitals, clinical research happens within most clinical specialities, wherever patients are seen and care for.
Clinical research can make a real difference to health outcomes. Not only is it important for advancements in treatment, but it has been proven that patients cared for in a research-active organisation have better outcomes.In an average year we recruit around 13,000 research participants into a broad range of research studies and trials. We're proud of our world-leading reputation for research excellence and how we're making a difference across our communities.
The set up and delivery of trials is supported by around 400 members of staff who are part of the Clinical Research Directorate. They all play an important part in helping to embed research into patient care.

Main duties of the job
The research team works closely with the clinical service to deliver a range of commercial and non-commercial, medical and surgical studies.
This is a clinical patient facing post, which requires a dynamic individual who can work both individually and as part of a team.
By identifying and supporting patients through their research participation the post holders will play a crucial role in the delivery of a broad portfolio of clinical trials.

- Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI)
- Health Innovation Neighbourhood (on the former Newcastle General Hospital and Centre for Ageing and Vitality site)
