We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our outstanding Obstetric Medicine Team. The team currently consists of a leadership team involving one Obstetric Physician, lead Obstetrician and Consultant midwife with additional input provided by other Obstetric Consultants with an interest in Obstetric Medicine, sub-specialty physicians, Obstetric Anaesthetists, specialist obstetric medicine midwives, transfer services and critical care. We are looking for an individual with the clinical skills and enthusiasm necessary to join and make a significant contribution to this team as well as to a relevant medical subspecialty area dependent upon the interests and qualifications of the successful candidate. We would also welcome applications from candidates wishing to work less than full-time within this role and/or job share opportunities.
Main duties of the job
o Provide expert opinions on patients with a wide range of complex obstetric medicine problems, taking independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients referred to a tertiary centre alongside obstetric and subspecialty physician colleagues.
o Provide consultant-based maternal medicine input into antenatal and post-natal ward rounds- providing expert opinions on patients with a wide range of peri-partum medical complications, as expected in a tertiary unit.

Education, Qualifications and Specialist Skills
Essential
- MBBS or other recognised equivalent medical qualification.
- Full GMC Registration.
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register for a medical specialty (or within 6 months from the date of the AAC).
- Fellow or member of the Royal College of Physicians
- Certificate of Completion of Training in relevant medical specialty (or be within 6 months of the award of CCT by date of interview)
Desirable
- Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD
- Special skills training in the specialty.
- RCP Credential in Obstetric Medicine (pre or post CCT)
- Area of special interest that complements the skills existing within the department
