Job summary
The Clinical Board of Surgical and Associated Specialist Services are looking to strengthen their operational team, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead the operational and strategic management of the Urology, Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) and Vascular Surgery services. This pivotal role requires strong leadership, governance expertise, and performance focus to support high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care within a complex tertiary surgical environment.Working closely with the Speciality Clinical Director and Matron, the post-holder will be responsible for delivering key performance, quality, and financial targets. You will play a critical role in developing and implementing service improvement initiatives aligned with Trust priorities, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.Working with the triumvirate leadership team you will support governance responsibilities, including oversight of clinical risk, incident management, compliance with national and Trust standards, and leading on CQC preparedness. You will ensure robust governance structures are embedded, driving patient safety and quality of care.

Main duties of the job
Strategically, the General Manager will lead service planning, workforce development, and pathway redesign to meet evolving demand and national policy changes. The role requires strong stakeholder engagement, including collaboration with ICS partners, commissioners, and other acute providers to drive transformation and service sustainability.You will bring significant operational management experience in a complex healthcare setting, with excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. A sound understanding of elective and emergency surgery pathways, NHS performance frameworks, and strategic service development is essential.

- The management of all non-medical staff including direct line management of a specific cohort
- The development and implementation of corporate strategies and decisions within the Trust

- They are able to deputise for members of the Clinical Board management team (as appropriate) when required
