Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for 2 highly motivated individuals with demonstrable quality improvement experience to join one of our 8 Clinical Boards to lead on service redesign and transformational change initiatives, whilst embedding a culture of quality improvement.

As a passionate Improver with extensive knowledge of Quality Improvement tools and techniques, you will deliver and lead on identified improvement projects and programmes, working with multi-disciplinary teams to initiate, design, plan, control and execute specific projects within the Board and across Boards where there are cross-cutting programmes of work. This is a rare opportunity for improvers to work side by side with operational and clinical teams, influencing change at a local level.

You will facilitate Clinical Board improvement events and deliver training on the Trust's QI methodology as well as coaching frontline teams to deliver improvement activities.

The successful candidates will be able to use their own initiative and demonstrate good judgement, problem-solving and analytical skills to facilitate change.

Main duties of the job

Whilst you will be an integral member of the Clinical Board, you will maintain close links with the central Service Improvement Team to support your ongoing professional development.

The key priorities for Improvement Change Partners are:

  1. Champion and support the adopting and embedding of continuous improvement within the Clinical Boards, leading on high priority service redesign and transformational change initiatives, and support others in the Board to carry out improvement activity
  2. Deliver and lead on identified improvement projects and programmes
  3. Provide support to the central Service Improvement Team as part of the Trust-wide Service Review Programme
  4. Deliver and support formal and bespoke improvement training & coaching across the Trust
  5. Lead the evaluation of improvement activities, patient outcomes and operational impact, whilst identifying opportunities for scale and spread

Qualifications & Education

Essential

  • Degree level education supplemented by relevant post graduate study through to Masters Level or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Project Management Qualification
  • Teaching or coaching experience and/or qualification

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience of using improvement methodologies
  • Experience of conducting successful efficiency reviews and action plans
  • Knowledge of operational, financial and personnel management and an in depth understanding of the issues which enable effective functioning
  • Experience of influencing staff at all levels to ensure improvement objectives are owned by all stakeholders
  • Experience of working or co-designing improvements with patients or service users

Desirable

  • Developed understanding of health service issues
  • Good knowledge & understanding of the NHS financial regimes, information systems, data sources and benchmarking techniques
  • Good understanding of care pathways through complex NHS systems
