Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced leader to steer the transformation of our services and develop our shared local vision and strategy for healthcare services in the city so that we can deliver the highest quality services. We are looking for someone who can quickly build trusting and mutually beneficial relationships with our key partners including our local GP Federation, Primary Care Network and Newcastle City Council. You will also be able to work closely with our communities as we develop care pathways to ensure that the expertise of patient, families and community and voluntary sector partners is embraced and incorporated into our delivery.
This is an innovative new role, and you will be a key officer supporting our response to the NHS strategic shift - moving from 'hospital to community'.
About us
Our staff oversee around 6,500 patient contacts every day, delivering high standards of healthcare from the following sites:
o Freeman Hospital
o Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI)
o Health Innovation Neighbourhood (on the former Newcastle General Hospital and Centre for Ageing and Vitality site)
o Newcastle Dental Hospital
o Newcastle Fertility Centre
o Northern Centre for Cancer Care, North Cumbria
o Northern Genetics Service
o Cramlington Manor Walks
These include a range of flagship services which deliver cutting-edge care (supported by state-of-the-art diagnostic services in both radiology and pathology) and are a catalyst for innovation to support pioneering clinical practice in the NHS.

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience of adult community services as the role will be accountable for the delivery of high-quality patient care, clinical governance, patient safety, clinical quality, and good financial management. You will be able to balance the need for our services to have a clear identity and focus, with working in an integrated and coordinated way with partners to meet patients holistic needs.
The organisation like the wider NHS, has faced unprecedented challenges over the last five years, including increasing demand and a changing financial model. We can expect that the next 5 years are going to be no less challenging, as we seek to achieve NHS performance standards and moving towards the key shifts for the NHS.

- Degree level education supplemented by post graduate study and management to doctorate level or equivalent level experience.
Knowledge & experience

- Successful track record at a senior management level in a complex NHS environment.
- Significant operational experience at senior manager level Including responsibility for strategic planning, financial management, performance management, information systems and staff management for community services
- Experience of working with multiple organisations to achieve a shared vision.
- Proven track record of delivery against the performance agenda
- Highly developed understanding of health service issues.
- In depth knowledge of the NHS and the recent reforms.
- Good knowledge of NHS information systems, data sources and benchmarking techniques.
- Successful track record of achievement in the NHS and detailed knowledge of NHS operational management, strategy and national policy content.
- Demonstrable experience of business and corporate planning and production of comprehensive and highly complex business cases.
