Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Phlebotomy team based at Freeman Hospital for a post of 30 hours per week working 0700-1300 on a rotational basis. As a Phlebotomist you are an integral part of the NHS, working closely with doctors, nurses, healthcare science staff to name a few. You will be required to take blood samples from inpatients on wards, ensuring they are correctly labelled and delivered promptly to the laboratories for analysis. These samples need to be stored and transported appropriately during this process. This position requires an individual with a sympathetic approach whilst dealing with patients who could be nervous or require specialist care. Follow aspect techniques and guidelines at all times. We are looking for a caring and professional individual who has the ability to work alone as well as part of a team. We welcome any interested applicants to an informal visit.

Main duties of the job
- Taking blood from patients whilst in hospital. (venepuncture)
- Following policies and procedures.
- Store blood securely.
- Promptly deliver samples to Laboratories.
- Working closely with the team as well as working alone on wards delivering safe care.
- Good communication skills.
- To be able to have a rapport with nervous patients.
