Two opportunities have arisen for highly motivated experienced Registered Nurses to join the Neurosciences team at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in the role of Sister/Charge Nurse to work both on the ward and in the enhanced care area.
This post would suit candidates with previous Neurosurgical experience within the inpatient ward areas, recovery or critical care setting.
Applicants should have Neurosurgical ward/ ICCU/HDU/Recovery experience.

Main duties of the job
We have a post within the Neurosciences department on Ward 15 as a B6 ward sister.
Ward 15 has 26 beds and an additional 4 enhanced care beds offering care for post- operative patients who require extra monitoring and support. Ward 15 is a regional unit providing specialist care to a diverse range of Neurosurgical patients within the North-East/North-West region, providing a comprehensive range of tests, treatments and procedures for all types of Neurosurgical and Spinal conditions. The Directorate offers a comprehensive range of Neurosciences care and offers immense learning opportunities within this clinical specialty.
As a ward sister you will be pivotal in supporting the senior sister and ward team to deliver on the Trust vision, showing great leadership, support and passion for the role.
Maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures.
Responsible for the safe custody of medication, including checking and administration.
Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework, you will motivate colleagues, champion service user safety and dignity and drive continuous improvement.

- In areas within the organisation Nurses / ODPs may be banded at 6 by virtue clinical reasons, for example, critical care.
- Provide effective support and leadership to staff, patients and carers within the Theatre or Department.
- Act as role model, teacher and supervisor for junior staff and students.
- Ensure systems are in place to provide the continuity of safe effective care for patients at all times.
- Effective member of the multi-disciplinary team.May be required to participate in an On-call rota as required.
