Job summary
An opportunity has arisen to join an established team of Operating Department Orderly's based within the Theatres at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. You will be responsible for the safe transfer of patients to and from the Operating Theatres, for the cleaning and care of patient trolleys, the checking and stocking of theatre facilities and to provide non-clinical assistance to the operating theatre teams.
Experience is not essential but you should have a willingness to undertake training to achieve NVQ Level II in Support Services.

Main duties of the job
Normal hours of work will be on a shift basis and will include working nightshift, weekends and Bank Holidays if required. You must be flexible and able to rotate shifts at short notice to meet the requirements of the service.
You must have good verbal and written communication skills, be flexible and have acceptance of line management. Previous experience working in the operating theatre and/or experience within a hospital environment would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be given.
A responsibility for safe transfer of patients to and from the operating theatres, cleaning and care of patient transfer devices ie trolleys, beds, wheelchairs etc. Stock checking and rotating, specimen collection and transportation, support and assist the operating theatre teams. Remain professional at all times.
