Job summary
The Clinical Board are seeking to appoint a highly experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Matron/Clinical Theatre Manager to lead, develop and support Theatres within the Peri-Operative and Critical Care Board to delivery high quality care to our patients.
You will be part of the senior leadership team within the Peri-Operative and Critical Care Board and be responsible for leading your team to deliver the Board objectives.
Please note this role may include cross site working.

Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for the operational management of an allocated portfolio of Operating Theatres within the Board. You will need to have proven leadership, organisational, change management skills, a strong commitment to excellent patient care and be experienced with managing people.
You will be required to be highly committed to quality improvement in the theatre setting and drive service improvement. An ability to understand and influence finances and make cost improvements whilst maintaining the highest standards of patient care will be essential.

- The post holder has 24-hour accountability for their portfolio of Theatres within the Board.
- They must ensure appropriate systems and processes are in place to ensure the continuity of safe and effective care at all times.
- Deputises for Operational Management as required / appropriate as part of the Board Team
The core responsibilities of Matron are:
- Leadership of Theatre Teams
- Ensure the provision of safe and effective patient care
- Effectively manage the Nursing/OPD/HCA/Theatre Orderly resource within your Theatre portfolio
- Delivery of Trust and Clinical Board objectives as part of the Board Management Team
- Accountability for ensuring the highest standards of clinical care is provided in Theatres
- Responsibility for infection control and cleanliness
- Development of nurses, ODPs and support staff
- Operational Management of Theatres and Theatre staff
Essential criteria include:
- Experience in Operating Theatres
- Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner
- Qualification in a perioperative speciality or an equivalent level of experience
- Masters Degree or willing to undertake Masters Degree within an agreed timescale
- Leadership and communication skills
