Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motived communicator to join the Newcastle Health Innovation Partners (NHIP) team at Newcastle Hospitals.
The post holder would be responsible for communicating with a wide range of stakeholders on the exceptional and diverse health research taking place across our partnership. The role is based in Newcastle University and you would work closely with the NHIP Head of Communications.
Newcastle Health Innovation Partners (NHIP) brings together partners in health and care research, education and training. The partnership spans Newcastle, Hospitals, Newcastle University, Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, Newcastle City Council, Health Innovation North East and North Cumbria and Northumbria University.
Our purpose is to deliver collaborative health and care research, education and training to improve citizen health, address health inequalities and generate economic growth.
Communications in NHIP is a busy working environment, working with complex messaging and serving a wide range of stakeholders and audiences. The department plays a key role in managing and enhancing the reputation of the partnership. It leads on proactive and reactive communications via its website, social media, events, stakeholder newsletter, video and stakeholder engagement. We work closely with Communications teams from across our partnership and the wider network.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for a creative individual who is passionate about producing high quality written and visual content and has the ability to convey a variety of, often complex, messages to a number of audiences in a clear and accessible way.
This varied role includes overseeing events, developing our stakeholder newsletter, managing distribution lists, maintaining our website and social media management. You will also utilise your skills in content creation, design and copy writing as we promote health research partnership projects across our channels, and also maintain an up to date calendar of schedule material and opportunities.
You would work with other communications leads across our partnership as well as our PPIE working group to tell our story to all of our audiences.

Although employed by Newcastle Hospitals, the post holder will work across all the NHIP partner organisations, with responsibility for:
Protecting and promoting the reputation of NHIP.
Planning and implementing communication and marketing projects in line with the NHIP communication strategy and strategic objectives.
Writing, editing and proof-reading a range of material for internal and external publications, for internal/external distribution.
Supporting the promotion of NHIP through proactive engagement of the relevant media channels, including writing media releases and briefing journalists.
Contributing to corporate communication, engagement and marketing initiatives to enable NHIP to deliver on its strategic objectives, supported by appropriate photography and videography.
Contributing to tactical communication plans to support programmes and services, working closely with internal audiences as well as external partners.
Updating and creating content for the NHIP website, intranet and social media channels.
Preparation of information leaflets/posters and other publications.
Managing and maintaining databases e.g., media contacts.
Organising the print and distribution of key publications and documents as required, including liaison with printers, photographers and other external suppliers.
Supporting events management.
Deputising for the Trust Senior Communication Officer, as necessary, in providing communications, marketing and media handling advice to managers, staff and committees.
