This is an exciting job opportunity to support Clinical Psychologists and other members of the MDT working in paediatric cleft lip and palate (3.5 days), paediatric renal 0.5 days; adult long term conditions (1 day); This is a well-established role with great opportunities for direct and indirect patient work.

Main duties of the job
Attendance at MDT clinics and conducting psychosocial screening. Supporting qualified clinical psychologists in their roles. There is some opportunity for direct clinical work. Supporting project work in the department. Supporting data collection and analysis and opportunities for research and service development. We have a great reputation for developing Assistant Psychologists with lots of opportunities for peer support, CPD and supervision.
This role is based in a large psychology department with over 50 Psychologists working into different parts of psychology in healthcare. We have great links with the local doctorate training courses.

- single honours degree (upper second class or higher) in psychology
Desirable
- Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology
EXPERIENCE

- Computer literate with experience of using Microsoft Office and statistical packages for data analysis
- Experience of conducting literature searches and reviews
Desirable
- Experience of working with patient groups with psychological difficulties
- Experience of working with groups
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Essential
- Knowledge of developmental processes from childhood to old age
- An ability to apply existing psychological knowledge and skills to a healthcare setting
- Understanding of issues relating to confidentiality
- Understanding the needs of individuals with psychological difficulties
- High level communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive
