Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 3 full time band 5 Audiologists at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne. We are looking for enthusiastic, flexible Band 5 Audiologist's to join our friendly team in a service that is proactively changing to adopt new ways of working in order to deliver the best care to patients we can in these challenging times and beyond. As our Department provides a comprehensive Audiology and Hearing Aid service to the whole of the North of Tyne area a driving license and access to a car, or the ability to drive, would be desirable. We have 3 full time permanent posts. You will provide all routine aspects of diagnostic and rehabilitative Audiology including covering ENT clinics, hearing aid fittings and reviews and becoming involved in remotecare Audiology. Our service covers adults and paediatrics and you will also become involved in the more advanced techniques and procedures in more specialist areas.

Main duties of the job
- BSc / MSc in Audiology or equivalent. Please note we can accept applications from those who are working towards their BSc although we could only offer the positions as a Band 4 until the qualification is achieved at which point the post will become a Band 5.
- Have or be working towards RCCP or HCPC registration.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- To help develop, organise, implement and evaluate hearing aid and Audiology service to Freeman Hospital and outreach clinics for both the adult and paediatric population.
- Perform otoscopy and taking aural impressions of ears
- Use of the hearing aid analyser to establish hearing aid faults and to compare performance to international standards
- Selection and adjustment of earmoulds when required using a hand drill, grinder and buffer
- Undertakes a range of diagnostic testing
- Undertakes testing of middle ear function
- Takes aural impressions, modifies and fits earmoulds
- Selects appropriate hearing aid to be fitted, exchanges current hearing aid for most appropriate type during reassessment when necessary
- Performs real ear measurement as standard
- Refers suitable clients for BAHA and cochlear implants as appropriate
