This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Dietetic Service for the Paediatric Intensive Care and Surgical services at The Great North Children's Hospital. You will oversee the clinical dietetic management of these areas, working with the multidisciplinary teams to review and develop the Dietetic Service.

Main duties of the job
As the Lead Specialist Dietitian, this is an opportunity to develop your skills working alongside a dynamic and established Paediatric Dietetic Team, who work within a wide range of areas including Allergy, Bone Marrow Transplant, Cardiothoracic Surgery (based at the Freeman Hospital), Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Ketogenic Diets, Metabolic Disease, Neurology, Oncology, Parenteral Nutrition, and Kidney Disease. The successful candidate will:
- Deliver a comprehensive and effective clinical nutrition and dietetic service in the acute hospital in the specialist area
- Provide specialist dietetic assessment, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and management in the clinical setting and in one or more sub-specialty areas, this may include supplementary prescribing
- Act as a source of expertise in nutrition support/education and dietetics to patients, medical staff, health care professionals, relatives, carers and all relevant agencies
- Provide expertise to nutrition teams and works in other multidisciplinary teams
- Participate in team and multi-disciplinary evaluation, audit and research
- Strong leadership skills are essential in this service lead role
