Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our specialist amputee rehabilitation service at the Freeman Hospital.

We have two 18 month temporary Band 6 posts on offer, owing to recent service growth. The successful applicants will work across both the inpatient and outpatient amputee physiotherapy pathways and will become an integral part of a small Specialist Physiotherapy Team delivering best practice to this patient group.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Band 5 Physiotherapist who has had previous experience working with amputees or a Band 6 Physiotherapist with amputee rehabilitation experience who may wish to develop their skills further within this specialist field.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicants will be part of the amputee rehabilitation service at Freeman hospital.

The postholders will be involved in the delivery of specialist amputee Physiotherapy throughout the patient journey; involving pre-amputation assessments, ward based acute post- surgical rehabilitation, discharge planning, and out- patient rehabilitation with progression to limb wearing where appropriate. The service supports all of the Newcastle amputee patients, in addition to more complex patients from around the region.

You will be supported by Band 7 Clinical Lead Physiotherapists working within the Amputee Rehabilitation Centre itself, together with MDT colleagues and ward based therapy teams.
