We are delighted to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our team as a full time Trust Fellow in Gastroenterology.
The post is available from the 2nd September 2024 for 12 months.
The successful candidate will be expected to work as a specialty registrar (IMT3+ level) in gastroenterology in the department of gastroenterology on both the RVI and the Freeman hospital sites. The successful candidate will be expected to provide both inpatient and outpatient care to patients with a range of gastrointestinal diseases including inflammatory diseases of the GI tract and liver, GI bleeding, nutritional problems and liver disease. The trainee will be fully supported by the MDT, including consultants, nurse specialists and senior registrars. The trainee will be expected to attend and contribute to MDT meetings, the review of specialty consults and will begin highly supported training in endoscopy. You contribute the general internal medical (GIM) on call rota.
We provide comprehensive tertiary inpatient and outpatient subspecialist GI care for the local community, NE region and Cumbria with a clinical network across the regional District General Hospitals. In addition to the challenges of the role, we can offer you a commitment to teaching, education, research and audit.
Main duties of the job
Clinical:
To provide outpatient and inpatient specialist gastroenterology care
To begin training in endoscopy
Research:
The post holder will be encouraged to participate in research activity where practicable
Administrative:
To participate in audit and clinical governance activity
To participate constructively in departmental meetings including the IBD, nutrition MDT and Q&S meetings.
Teaching:
To provide clinical and educational supervision for junior doctors if required
