Job summary

The successful candidate will work alongside an established research nurse delivering the Haplo4kids clinical trial in Newcastle, they will also join a research team who deliver a wide variety of clinical trials.

The post holder will be given full training and support to ensure the safe delivery of this exciting trial while also being given the opportunity to be involved in other studies delivered by the team. A high level of motivation and organizational skills are required, and although they will work within a team there will be some areas of independent working and using own initiative.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be required to conduct the clinical trial using GCP guidelines alongside the governance framework surrounding research. By following these guidelines, the study protocol and collecting accurate data we can ensure the delivery is safe for participants and of high quality. High quality research can enable improvements within health care to be made which will benefit patients moving forward.

  • Ensure all training is completed and up to date.
  • Follow study protocol.
  • Collect accurate data and fully document on electronic system.
  • Ensure participant safety.
  • Give study information in an appropriate medium, to ensure full understanding.
  • Work both independently and alongside team to ensure all study tasks are fully completed.
  • Manage own workload to ensure protocol mandated tasks are completed in the required time.

  • Post graduate study in a health/biological sciences related area or equivalent in level experience
  • Meets Nursing and Midwifery Council requirements for mentorship if relevant to role

  • Substantial post registration experience
  • Experience of working within specialty
  • Awareness of research governance issues
