Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Trust Cancer Flow & Performance Team for an enthusiastic, well-organised Information Assistant to support the team in capturing nationally mandated cancer data.
The Cancer Flow & Performance Team are responsible for the collection, collation and reporting of nationally mandated cancer datasets. The Information Assistant is an integral part of the team. They must ensure patient related activity data is recorded, is accurate, timely and valid, to meet local and national requirements. This also enables prospective management of patients along their cancer pathway, identifying patients who may breach national cancer pathway standards and take appropriate action to negate this. The postholder will work closely with MDT Administrators and Pathway Navigators, supporting them to prepare for the Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings.
Please note this role does not have any patient contact and is purely administrative.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for someone who has a good educational background to NVQ Level 3 standard or equivalent experience as well as excellent IT skills including a reasonable knowledge of Microsoft Office. The successful candidate will possess good communication and organisational skills and an ability to work in a demanding environment with tight and changing deadlines. Knowledge of medical terminology, Patient Administration Systems and Medical Records would be advantageous. The post is based at Regent Point but there may be occasion for the postholder to work across hospital sites and tumour groups.
