Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic, motivated, and well organised individuals to join the Procurement & Supply Chain department as Theatre Inventory Team Leaders at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman Hospitals. The Trust is investing in the theatre stores function, including the introduction of a modern Inventory Management System (IMS), incorporating the national Scan4Safety programme.

The Team Leaders are responsible for the provision of an effective, efficient, and professional inventory management service to theatre areas across the Trust.

The Team Leaders are responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the inventory management service, and teams, in line with trust policies and procedures.

Main duties of the job

The Theatre Inventory Team Leaders will line manage a team of Inventory Officers, providing an effective and efficient service to theatre department stakeholders. They will implement standard operating procedures for theatre stores alongside other Inventory and Logistics Team Leaders within the Procurement and Supply Chain department.

The Theatre Inventory Team Leaders will manage a portfolio of inventory management KPIs, including monthly reporting to key stakeholders in Theatres, Procurement and Finance.

The Theatre Inventory Team Leaders will provide support and guidance that relate to inventory management including, stock reviews, stock management and cost improvement projects.

The Theatre Inventory Team Leaders will have a working knowledge of electronic purchasing systems and the ability to actively manage their workload within such systems.

The posts require exceptional communication skills.

Essential

  • CIPS Storekeeping qualification or equivalent level 3 qualification/experience

Desirable

  • European computer driving licence qualification or equivalent qualification/experience

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Understands a range of work procedures and practices, some of which are non-routine, which require a base level of theoretical knowledge. This is normally acquired through formal training or equivalent experience. o A thorough understanding of inventory management theory and benefits, stock control procedures, delivery routes, manual handling o An understanding of MS Office, particularly Word and Excel o An understanding of a largescale public sector Inventory Management IT systems: NHS Supply Chain eDC and other healthcare Inventory Management systems as appropriate o An understanding of an Automatic Data Capture (ADC) Unit IT Systems and other handheld stock control systems as appropriate. o An understanding of purchase order IT systems: Oracle Cloud Finance and Procurement System and other healthcare P2P systems as appropriate. o A good understanding of Health and Safety and COSHH regulations
  • Previous experience in the Supplies Department of a large complex organisation, preferably within the NHS
  • A thorough understanding of Inventory Management/Stock control systems
