Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our North East and North Cumbria Regional Burns Centre at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. We are looking for a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse who is dedicated to improving patient care through effective leadership, management, and education. Ward 37 is an 8 bedded Regional Burns Centre within our Burns and Plastics department.

We are part of the Northern Regional Burn Care Network which in turn is responsible to the national burn care network and we provide the highest quality burn care. We believe that the individual with a burn injury, and their family, have the right to be cared for by a specialist team of committed and experienced staff, utilising contemporary research and knowledge-based skills. The successful candidate would be leading the nursing team with the support of a wide-ranging multi-disciplinary team.

We are looking for a forward thinking, passionate, proactive, and innovative person who will be committed to lead by example, encouraging and empowering the team to ensure consistently high standards of burns care are met and a service of excellence to our patients and their families and carers is delivered. You will need to be credible and visibly present, to ensure high standards of care continue, and a safe, effective, responsive, outstanding, and compassionate service is delivered.

Main duties of the job

  • As Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for the leadership, management and development of the service. You will be supporting the nursing team to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate high standards of nursing care.
  • Support and opportunities will be given in developing your managerial and leadership skills that are required for this challenging yet very rewarding role.
