We are looking for an experienced SQL Data Manager or Senior / Lead data warehouse developer looking to take the next step up in their career. The ability to deliver integrated data warehouse solutions remains paramount, as well as the ability to liaise with our teams of information analysts, clinical users and bio informaticians to ensure that our data is integrated, highly available and high quality to facilitate information-based decision making across the service.

Main duties of the job

As our data warehouse development SME you will lead on the production of data marts to specification and timescales including requirement gathering, design, development, testing, roll out and analyst training to ensure data is highly available, integrated and well structured. You will also manage and administrate a Microsoft SQL / SSIS based data warehouse hosted on AWS.

You will lead the service in the development of SQL Server and PowerBI based reporting solutions alongside our analyst team. You will be one of the primary points of contact and the point of escalation for all data warehouse related issues.

Experience of data warehousing in a Microsoft environment is essential as is confidence in the complete ETL and dimensional modelling process. An ability to learn quickly is required and experience of AWS and SQL Server Analysis Services or similar analysis modelling will be an advantage.

You will contribute technical advice and direction for the team. You will be educated to a degree level or equivalent and have had previous experience working as an ETL developer. Experience of working in an agile development environment would be beneficial.

This role will work in our diverse project teams alongside our subject matter experts from the laboratory, bioinformatics and IT teams across the labs in Newcastle, Leeds and Sheffield. Some travel may be required; however, our 3 city structure also offers flexibility for base location.
