Job summary
We are seeking to recruit a professionally accredited, experienced and motivated Counter Fraud Specialist. This is a rare opportunity to work within the Fraud Team of one of the largest and most successful NHS Trusts in the country.
The post holder will undertake a wide range of counter fraud work, from investigations through to delivering fraud awareness training and proactively targeting areas of high risk to fraud. This is a busy and diverse role that will suit a confident and engaging individual. The organisation is extremely complex, which necessitates a flexible approach and requires an ability to grasp new concepts and processes quickly. The post holder will be capable of prioritising their own workload, and ensuring that all legislation, government guidance and best practice is adhered to.

Main duties of the job
To provide a comprehensive counter fraud service including:
- Professional investigation into suspicions of fraud, bribery and corruption. From receipt of allegation, investigation planning, evidence gathering, complex analysis, interviewing witnesses / suspects, case file preparation (CPS / internal), attendance at formal hearings (criminal court / disciplinary). Working knowledge of appropriate legislation is therefore essential (e.g. PACE, CPIA, DPA, HRA, RIPA, Fraud Act, Bribery Act)
- Developing and undertaking local proactive exercises in areas of high risk of fraud, bribery and corruption. To undertake national proactive exercises, including the analysis, interpretation and submission of data.
- Promoting fraud awareness by delivering bespoke training across the multiple sites and using various methods to communicate our key messages.
- Ensuring all work is undertaken inline with the Trust's Annual Fraud Plan and in conjunction with the requirements of the Government Functional Standard GovS 013: Counter Fraud.

- To work outside normal office hours when required which will occasionally necessitate extended hours and possible weekends.
- To supervise junior Fraud Team staff and provide line management support to enable them to carry out their roles effectively
- The Counter Fraud Specialist undertakes national and local proactive exercises as well as delivering specialist training in counter fraud to the Trust
The Fraud Team is a small but independent team within the Finance Directorate based in Regent Point, Gosforth.
