Working as an integral part of the catering department retail team role is based in the Leazes Wing Bistro RVI site providing out of hours services for staff in there 24 hour Bistro
Role is Part time 26.25 hours
3 on 4 off- 4 on 3 off on a 4-week rota
06:30-14:30 or 07:00-15:00

Main duties of the job
Preparation and service of a range of food items out of hours including a selection of hot meals and deli style options
Working closely with other members of the catering team including service staff, chefs, cashiers
Duties will involve cash handling, food and beverage service
Responsibility for cleanliness of department, compliance with all hygiene and legislative requirements including Food Safety Management, Allergen Information etc

- Responsible for assisting in the efficient and effective preparation and service of food and beverages to patients, staff and visitors including the associated cleaning and hygiene related duties
As a Catering Assistant you will be responsible for supporting the wider catering team retail meal service periods
Ensuring efficient and effective meal preparation and presentation also ensuring all meals are presented appropriately and look appealing as per the daily menu requirements also food are held and stored correctly equipment is operational
Working as part of the team s trolleys also processing associated used crockery through a dishwasher
Cleaning of the meal service area and associated equipment after each meal period
Cleaning on a daily basis of the department and any deep cleaning requirements as requested by the supervisory/management team.
Cash Handling.
Removal of catering rubbish and food waste.
Please note this role involves moving and handling of hot food related items.
Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate.The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first months pay.
