This exciting new Specialist Health Visitor role is funded specifically until March 2025 to progress with Newcastle's commitment to 1001 Critical Days and to ensure that we meet the criteria needed as set out within the Department for Education's Start for Life Offer.
Although you will work within a fabulous skill mix team in our 0-19 service who thrive on producing excellence, this Health Visitor Specialist role requires that the post holder is able to work independently and at speed. We are looking for someone with drive, commitment, and specialist knowledge to work strategically with multiple agencies across the city.

Main duties of the job
The Newcastle 1001 Critical Days network reports through its' Think Tank, to the Early Intervention Forum and the post holder will be the systems lead for the city in promoting this agenda including supporting the wider workforce therefore a sound evidential and practical knowledge of this is essential.
The post holder will be supported by the Think Tank to ensure that the work is joined up across the city and develop the annual conference using the identified theme.
The post holder will use their Specialist knowledge around the 1001 Critical days and Infant Mental Health to promote training, education and develop webinars to support multi agency work around the city. They will work and develop an overall joint strategy with peri-natal pathways.
The Community Hub has made a commitment to using the Solihull Approach within all areas of delivery and the post holder will take a lead to ensure that there is consistent training tailored to the needs of a variety of roles across the city.
We will be looking for someone who can demonstrate strategic thinking who is familiar with systems leadership approach. You will need to be excited about the Solihull Approach and its applications for use in relation to supporting Infant Mental Health. Keen to deliver multi-agency training around this and share the passion with other people.

Across the city of Newcastle, a rich set of cross-agency partnerships have been nurtured to keep pregnant women, and babies aged 0-2 years in the policy and practice spotlight. The post holder will be the systems lead for the city in promoting this agenda including support the wider workforce (e.g., pharmacies, public transport, environmental health) having a broader understanding of the 1001 Critical Days agenda.
- The post holder will lead, influence and support the embedding of the parent and Infant relationships support pathways for Newcastle across the Children and Families Newcastle and family hub network.
- Raise the profile and awareness of the importance of the 1001 critical days of a babies life and supporting parent- infant relationships.
- Lead in the connectivity of all elements of the Solihull Approach.
- Establish a community of practice.
- Increase training of the citys workforce in the Solihull Approach.
- Adopt an active role in the promotion of the 1001 Critical Days agenda.
- To provide consultation, training and supervision for the Newcastle Family Hub and early years workforce in relation to Infant Mental health and Solihull Approach.
- Within the sphere of specialist practice:
- Demonstrates significant advanced knowledge and skills within speciality and sphere of practice.
- Take a lead role facilitating the planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for a designated group of clients.
