We are excited to be recruiting to this new post, in which you will play a key role in our expanding Imaging Physics & Radiation Safety Unit. We also deliver teaching in conjunction with Newcastle University on one of three academic Medical Physics STP programmes in England, and Clinical Scientist training as part of the Northern Training Consortium.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced and innovative non-ionising radiation physicist to lead in the development of our regional MR physics service and oversee management and growth of our established Ultrasound physics service. This will involve working with a wide range of healthcare professionals including senior clinical staff from Trusts across the region, so good communication skills are essential.
This position involves the full range of management responsibilities including day to day operational management of either the MR or Ultrasound group and responsibility for teams currently including 5 Clinical Scientists, 2 Clinical Technologists and 3 Healthcare Science Assistant Practitioners, with this number expected to increase significantly over the next few years.
The role will involve visits to other Trusts around the region so requires a willingness to drive to other sites on a regular basis.
As head of the MR and Ultrasound physics section, you will manage a growing team of Clinical Scientists and Technologists and be part of the IPRS senior management team, working alongside colleagues from the diagnostic radiology and radiation safety sections of the department.
