Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced plain film / Theatre Radiographer to join our team as a team lead Radiographer.

As team lead you will support more junior staff with plain film and theatre imaging, taking responsibility for image authorisation, technique and interdepartmental communication.

The role will require an element of leadership, and the successful candidate will be required to deputise for the relevant Superintendent Radiographer in their absence.

The successful candidate will work closely with other team lead Radiographers, and Superintendent Radiographers, to develop and expand the imaging service.

An in depth knowledge of plain film and theatre techniques, as well as good communication skills are essential.

Main duties of the job

Working within the Radiology team to produce high quality images utilising a patient centred approach

To take a leadership role outside normal working hours to enable correct and appropriate imaging of patients

To deputise for the relevant Superintendent Radiographer in their absence

Training and development of more junior staff and students

  • Working knowledge of all relevant professional and NHS policies and procedures.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of radiation protection and methods of reducing radiation dose as well as a working knowledge of ionising radiation legislation (IR (ME) R).

SKILLS

Essential

  • Leadership, managerial and motivational skills
  • Good organisational interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work effectively in a team or independently as required.
  • IT skills necessary for Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).

Desirable

  • Teaching and assessment skills

EXPERIENCE

  • Evidence of CPD.

Desirable

  • IV cannulation competency
  • Relevant role extension

QUALIFICATIONS
