Job summary
We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well integrated team as a less than full-time 8PA Consultant in Paediatric Palliative Medicine.
This is a new clinical post, designed to support the continuing development of our clinical service. This is an exciting opportunity to join our very well-regarded CHIPS (Children's Holistic Integrated Palliative Care Service) Team and further the development of Paediatric Palliative Care across the North East and North Cumbria. Applicants must be willing to work in a dynamic and creative way to support patients and local teams throughout the region.
Please read attached Job Description and Person Specification.
Main duties of the job
This post is jointly funded through NHS specialist commissioning and St Oswalds Hospice. It has been created to strengthen both the CHIPS Specialist Palliative Care provision across the North East and North Cumbria and links between NHS commissioned services and local hospice services. We are seeking people who have undertaken GRID training in Paediatric Palliative Care.
CHIPS currently comprises 1.5 WTE Medical PA's, 2.9 WTE Clinical Nurse Specialists and a full-time Administrative Assistant. Since its establishment in January of 2020, the services have received 150 referrals from across the North East and North Cumbria ICB footprint and they have supported over 70 child deaths (including those at home, hospice, local hospital and PICU). CHIPS have developed links with local community paediatric services across the region as well as specialty teams based within the Great North Children's Hospital, and work collaboratively with the team around the child and family to support their care in the most holistic way possible.
